To say brilliant would be an understatement. Scorcese's Goodfellas is a prime example of the rise and fall of a gangster hoodlum. All the wonderful modern film elements (trans-decade growth, 'based on a true story') are there. And could anyone really hate Joe Pesci's crazy Tommy character?
